What is Agricultural Engineering?
Agricultural engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the construction, design and improvement of farm equipment and machinery. Agricultural engineering applies technology in farming. For example, it designs new and improved farming equipment that works more efficiently.
It designs and manufactures agricultural infrastructure such as water reservoirs, warehouses, dams and other structures. It also tries to find solutions for pollution control in large farms.
What do Agricultural Engineers do?
Most agricultural engineers work in the design and testing of agricultural equipment, machinery and their parts. They design food processing plants and food storage structures. Some engineers also design housing and environments for livestock.
They plan land reclamation projects in the farms and oversee these projects. Some engineers work in agricultural projects related to energy projects and carbon sequestration. In this article, we have presented further information about the work profiles of the Agricultural Engineers.

Where do Agricultural Engineers Work?
According to one study, most of the Agricultural Engineers (17%) were employed in engineering, architectural and allied services. 16% of the engineers were provided with jobs by the government. Another 14% of engineers were in food manufacturing.
13% of engineers were involved in agriculture, construction and mining machinery manufacturing. Another 6% were working as educators. Agricultural engineers work in indoor and outdoor locations. He spends his time in the office preparing plans and managing projects and is also involved in inspection of sites, equipment monitoring, land reclamation and water management projects in agricultural settings.
These engineers can also work in laboratories and classrooms. These people along with other people also do the work related to planning any work and solving the problems. For example, these engineers may work closely with horticulturists, agronomists, animal scientists, and genetics.
Employment for the agricultural engineering:
Agricultural engineers work in various sectors such as farming, forestry and food processing, etc. They work on a variety of projects. For example, some agricultural engineers work to develop climate control systems that increase the productivity and comfort of livestock.
Similarly, some other engineers work to increase the storage capacity and efficiency of refrigeration. Many agricultural engineers strive to develop better solutions for animal waste disposal.
Engineers who have computer programming skills are involved in integrating geospatial systems and artificial intelligence in agriculture. For example, these people work to bring efficiencies in fertilizer applications or to automate harvesting systems.
